Yeah, I was wondering what that thing is too...did you also harvest a sasquatch? No, it's Woods Walker! Shhh...nobody else knows he is there. Seriously, great photos and great deer all! Congratulations!

Awesome Matt! I was wondering where you'd been buddy. It's always tough to hold it together when they make you watch them a while. Nice work!

Sweet deer matt. Congrats! Great to hear your patience payed off. I know it has been frustrating for you this year having next to no sightings. Way to get it done!

ORIGINAL: ILBowhunter I suspect that I will take some heat for this, but I looked at the pics, read the posts, and no one else has made this comment so I guess I will. Is it too much to expect that when people post pics that they show greater respect for the animal than many of the images that were posted? Years ago, when it was common to see in magazines and newspapers images of dead gangsters splayed out in the street or in restaurants, it was in part to show disrespect for the lifestyle. It suggested the sort of death that these people were deserving of. Many of the photos in this thread remind me of the same sort of thing; deer lying in the back of pickups, deer hanging from gambrels, deer with sticks holding open their abdomens, etc. We all know the "blood and guts" is a part of the process, but also we all know what a beautiful animal a whitetailed deer is. One does not have to be a professional photographer to clean up the deer a bit, put its tongue in its mouth, and display it with what I believe is the respect it deserves. There are a number of pictures that have done just that. Just scroll through and look at those of Patriot, JPH, MarkAntony, Modeerhunter, RockyLandsverk, Vipermann7, and Metamorahunter. It seems clear to me they have respect for the life they took and the privledge of hunting. Its to bad you think that alittle blood in a pic is disrespectful to the animal we all know and love. But did you ever stop to think that maybe everyones circumstance is different in the field? First of all I believe its more disrespectful to put pictures first and the animal second. Anytime I harvest an animal my first concern is getting it dressed out for proper meat care not calling my family or buddies for a picture session. When you take the time to harvest such a beautiful animal, you owe it to the animal to care for the meat, the ultimate reason you harvested it in the first place. Some people dont take cameras in the field with them or have anyone close to take those 'in the field pics', ultimately winding up with pics taken from there pick-ups or even there yard where ther wife or neighbor snaps a few. Im also not going to ask someone to end there hunt just to take a few pics. Pictures are my last priority. And when I finally do take pics, its kinda hard to hide a 2-3 foot incision. If you dont like the sight of blood then maybe you should take up a different sport, like basketweaving.

Get yourself a little flexible tripod and an inexpensive digital camera. Load them in your pack and take them with you. You'll be glad you took the time to get the pictures of you and the deer in the field; you can do it by yourself and the minute or two it takes isn't going to cause any meat problems. You can outfit yourself for less than $100 and the pictures of you, your deer, and the woods make a much better 8x10 than you and your gutted deer, laying on concrete. Plus you'll have the added benefit of taking pictures of those deer you let walk.

Got this guy this morning at 6:30 am. got up in the stand and called in a nice tall 6 pointer that i was going to take until i caught this guy charging in. He wasnt to happy about the 6 in "his" area and a fight insued. after about 5 minutes of grunting and charging each other the 6 ran down the field and I got a shot. He was slightly quartered away and i put it behind the shoulder and directly into the other shoulder blade. He didn't make it 40 yards. There is 11 scorable points and the field dressed weight was right at 200lbs. We didn't have a camera with us in the field and because it was a pretty warm morning we thought it best to tend to the meat and get pictures back by the shed. Easily the biggest deer I've ever killed!!!
