Here are the most current survey results During the first month of the archery and youth deer seasons hunters have reported over 2100 hunting trips on the Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey. Hunters recorded trips from 70 of the 72 counties in the state. Hunters are averaging 3.7 hours per trip. Statewide, deer hunters averaged seeing 1.7 deer per trip, with Does, Fawns, and then Bucks being most commonly seen. Turkeys were the next most commonly seen animal with 1.5 turkeys seen per trip. Deer seen per trip varied by region of the state with the Western Farmland region hunters seeing 2.4 deer per trip and Northern Forest hunters 1.2. If you are participating in the survey, please continue to record your hunting trips and observations. Please report all hunting trips, even if you see nothing during the hunt. If you have not yet hunted or recorded your observations, please do so when you get a chance. Thank you for the information you've collected so far. If you have any questions about the results so far or about the survey, please feel free to contact me at Brian.Dhuey@wisconsin.gov . I have hunted 3 /4 hours nearly every day since the bow season began; Zone 53. I did not hunt the recent 4 day Doe only rifle season. To date I have reported seeing Two Does, One Fawn, One Buck (which I harvested) and no Turkeys I also periodically check in with the local registration station to see whats being registered. The Registration Station allowed me to view the few completed registration forms they had. Harvest records from this active Registration Station in Zone 53 do not come close to what this survey is reporting as sightings. Reports of hunters not seeing anything is much more common. Could this DNR Survey be still another inflated ploy?

Seriously? No doubt a conspiracy, the likes of which we've never seen before. Hal, big brother is watching. I see a black helicopter too.

I wonder if the survey takes into account repeat deer, or does it assume that every sighting is a new deer? That could skew the # real quick. In my experience it is not uncommon to see the same deer more than once during a sit. Especially now when the bucks are chasing the does from one side of the property to the other.

You are subscribed to Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey for Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Here is an update of the survey results thus far. During the first six weeks of the archery, and during the youth, and antlerless only deer seasons hunters have reported over 4100 hunting trips on the Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey. Hunters have been reporting increased deer movements during the last 2 week period as the number of deer seen per hunter trip has increased over the last two week period. As the rut enters its peak period, the number of bucks seen per hunter trip has increased 69% compared to the prior 2 week period. Hunters are averaging 3.8 hours per hunting trip. Turkey continue to be the next most commonly seen animal other than deer, with the average turkey sighting having approximately 8 birds in the flock If you are participating in the survey, please continue to record your hunting trips and observations.
